Rules/Deck Rules DoJo
Rules HONESTY,
COURTESY, RESPECT, DISCIPLINE, LOYALTY and COURAGE are the motivating values of
this school and are the expected characteristics of all of our students. Observe
dojo etiquette by bowing upon entering and leaving training areas. Arrive
10 minutes prior to your class to allow you to check in at the reception desk,
get dressed and stretched out. Do
not congregate in the lobby or around the reception desk. Please
help keep the dojo clean: put trash in proper receptacles, store personal equipment
neatly and be courteous with restroom usage. Spectators
are requested to maintain silence at the opening and closing of classes. Deck
Rules
The
deck area is to be used for training only. It is discourteous to interrupt or
interfere with lessons in progress. If you are late, seek permission from the
instructor to enter a class that has already started.
While on deck address all instructors and fellow students as Mr., Ms., Sir or
Ma'am. Students must be in full uniform while training in the dojo. Approved uniforms
are as follows: Student
gi consists of white top and white pants. Black Belt Club members should wear
the approved BBC gi. Black Belt Ranks: Jr.
Black- white top, black pants 1st degree - white top, black pants 2nd
degree - red top, black pants 3rd degree - blue top, black pants 4th
degree - black top, black pants 5th degree and up - any color Instructors
must wear the embroidered black gi or
rank uniform while teaching class. Optional
summer uniform consisting of rank T-shirt or tank top, rank belt, and gi pants
may be worn May 15 - Oct 15. Kickboxer
uniform will consist of approved rank singlet, shorts and sparring gear. Exceptions
to dress code are made for weight training, bag work, Tai-Ro-Bics and contact
workouts. Ask management for clarification. Students
are to train with bare feet or approved footwear only. Deck shoes are to be reserved
for deck surfaces and are not to be used outside the dojo. Water
and sports drinks are to be in spill-proof containers and kept off the deck. No
gum chewing on deck. All
sparring must be supervised by an instructor. It is mandatory for all students
to have sparring gear. No
horseplay allowed at any time.
